So I had this idea of drawing one portrait every week for a year. 52 weeks = 52 portrait. I have terrible self dicipline, but I will at least try.

First up is Tom Hiddleston as Thomas Sharpe from Crimson Peak, one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen.

I'm... quite happy with this. First it looked okay, then bad, then better, then terrible and now back to okay or quite good. It was some time since I drew these kinds of portraits and there were a lot of dark and hard shadows, which I'm not used to, so I'm gonna blame that. And buy softer pencils so I can make deep shadows easier next time. :D

So... I realise I have been away for a while. A year for sure, and I wasn't a lot here before that either. I simply haven't been drawing a lot the last couple of years. Some photography, some books or other crafts, but no drawing or painting.
Resently though, I started feeling like maybe I should come back. dA is pretty nice after all and the last six months or so I've gotten more seriously into photography. I've liked it for years but not untill this summer did I start learning more about shooting in manual mode and to edit them better afterwards. I love it and I thought, why aren't I showing these photos on dA when I like them so much?
And this monday I started a course in Concept Art. It's the first serious art class I've ever taken and I chose it because I was hoping to learn new things and finaly getting back to drawing more, like I used to do. The first day someone asked for links to people's dA-acounts and after thinking I shouldn't tell them mine (because everything here is so old now and pretty bad) I decided to do so anyway and to see this as an oportunity to get back into both drawing and dA.
So here I am! I went through my gallery and put a loooot of things in a new map with "Old stuff". I've removed very few pictures but put the once I feel are bad in this new map to give myself a fresh start. I like to be able to see how people have gotten better over the years so I didn't want to remove pictures showing how I (hopefull) have gotten better, but I didn't want to have my old ugly pictures be the first thing you saw here either. So this felt like a good idea.
I've already uploaded a couple of new photos and I hope to continue doing so and that new artwork will be joining the photos soon too. Hopefully the new course will give me some inspiration and knowledge. Perhaps there will even be pictures I draw in class which I will put up here. We'll see I guess.
Looking forward to seeing new amazing art here and hopefully share some of my own.

Done! :D And I just loooove the cross stitch pattern with Tinkerbell and the others. I NEED to embroyder (is that the right word?) that some day. Just amazing! Right now I'm working on a huuuge cross stitch which is the movie poster for the first Hobbit movie. In January I've been working on it for two years. I'm... almost half way done. It's ridiculous really. =P Anyway, I'm thinking of taking a little brake to do something smaller and easier. Haha! And some princesess would be great. We'll see I guess. Followed you on Etsy too. I make books and sell there but I'm home for christmas so the store is in vacation mode right now. :)
And yes, sparkles! More sparkles to the people!
And happy holidays! :huggle:

Embroider is a proper word for it. :la: Cross-stitching is a subset specialty of embroidery, people like myself can get pretty uptight about it haha. :P Is your poster one of the HAEDs? :D If so I know how huge those things are and I totally wish you luck getting it done. :D

:la: Normally I would say they're not smaller as the princesses are two feet tall on 18 count, but I can understand swapping out from a two year long project to work on something sparkly is a nice incentive.

:iconrubcheeksplz: Thank you so much for adding me to your watch and Etsy! :squee: It really brings a smile to my face which is more than I could've asked for. :D I hope that I can continue to impress with my future pieces!

Haha! Good thing I didn't offend you then. =P
HAEDs? I'm not sure what that is. I took the first movie poster and made it into a cross stitch pattern by myself. I wasn't happy with the details at first so I made it a bit bigger and a bit bigger and when I was happy... I realised that the picture would be about 145cm high (4,7 feet?). So... it's taking some time. But I love it. Just slighty obsessed. :D
So... yes, two feet is quite big. But it still seems small to my curent project. ;) But my dwarfs have no sparkles. :(
You're very welcome. Always nice to find other people who like the same things as you. ^_^
I also felt inspired to make more patterns so I started making some from my own photos and reopened my second Etsy shop (I sell handmade books in the first one) to see if anyone would be interested in bying. Haven't got much there yet, but it's still a lot of fun. Here's the link if you wanna have a look. :) www.etsy.com/shop/DesignByChar…
